On Saturday, March 7, the Sisters at the Convent of Mary the Queen were joined by Sisters from Elizabeth’s Place, Kittay House, Mount Saint Vincent Convent, and more for Irish music, dancing, fun, food, and fellowship. Celebrated in honor of Sister Trudē Collins, SC (dec. 3/20/14), the party featured music by Gus Hayes, Irish step dancing by Emma and Brianne (under the direction of Deidre O’Mara), bagpipe music, Sister Carol Finegan on guitar and Sister Margaret Egan on fiddle (Irish Blessing), Sister Theresa Gravino (Oh Danny Boy), and spontaneous dancing by Sisters Nancy McNamara, Eileen McGrory, and many others. Sister Nancy McNamara, who organized the party, summed up the event as, “just a good day!”

The party was truly a tremendous group effort by many. Sisters Kathy Doherty, Arlene Ketchum, Regina Murphy, and Associate Georgianna Costello pitched in to provide rides for the Sisters at the other retirement homes; Sister Betty Kolb, administrator of the Convent of Mary the Queen, and the staff went above and beyond to make certain that the last St. Patrick’s Day party at the Queen would be one to remember. Sister Kathleen Sullivan captured the day in photos; Mary Mooney, friend of the Sisters of Charity, provided great assistance to Sister Nancy; and everyone else in attendance pitched in to create a truly memorable event.

The Sisters of Charity thank all for their efforts and hard work. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
