First Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of New York
he first Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of New York was located at McGown's Pass (now Central Park), from 1847 to 1859. It was also the first home of the Academy of Mount St. Vincent. In 1859, to make way for Central Park, the Motherhouse and the Academy moved to Mount St. Vincent on-the-Hudson in Riverdale, New York. The Academy developed into the College of Mount St. Vincent. |
