For almost two centuries the Sisters of Charity of New York have been engaged in the ministries of education, healthcare and childcare. Our Sisters are still working with the poor in these fields, but in different ways. We are in the process of transforming to remain relevant and effective in the 21st century.
During the last decade, we have expanded our ministries so that we now provide:
- social services, such as housing for homeless mothers and their children
- information and counseling to women and new immigrants
- affordable housing for seniors
- ecological information and services
- pastoral ministry and spiritual direction
You can help these smaller ministries that improve the lives of the homeless, new immigrants and women in general, by taking part in the first annual Sisters of Charity Benefit. It will be held on Thursday, May 8th, at the Yale Club, opposite Grand Central Station in New York City. From 6 to 9pm, enjoy an evening of good company, good music, and delicious hors d’oeuvres. Bid on a collection of great auction items, including resort stays, theater tickets, restaurant passes, tickets to NYC pro sports teams and more! Don’t be surprised if you see a celebrity or two.
