NGO is short for Non-Government Organizations. The Federation has a NGO representative at the UN - Sr. Caroljean Willie, a Cincinnati Sister of Charity.
The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) has accredited the Federation. With this accreditation:
- We enjoy consultative status by which we can offer advice to ECOSOC and be asked for input
- We can give and sign interventions, i.e., make statements to governments during their meetings and sign NGO petitions or statements to governments
- We can engage in a two-way dialogue with the United Nations and its various commissions
- We can be consulted on "best practices" requests from ECOSOC as the preparations for the various commissions take place
