Federation as NGO
Publications

NGO is short for Non-Government Organizations.  The Federation has a NGO representative at the UN - Sr. Caroljean Willie, a Cincinnati Sister of Charity.

The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) has accredited the Federation. With this accreditation:

• We enjoy consultative status by which we can offer advice to ECOSOC and be asked for input
• We can give and sign interventions, i.e., make statements to governments during their meetings and sign NGO petitions or statements to governments
• We can engage in a two-way dialogue with the United Nations and its various commissions
• We can be consulted on "best practices" requests from ECOSOC as the preparations for the various commissions take place

As ECOSOC accredited, we can have five representatives in New York and Geneva. Along with Sister Maria Elena Dio, Sister of Charity of Halifax and Sr. Claire Regan, Sister of Charity of New York, several sisters of the Federation have interned at the United Nations.
