From centuries ago, the words of our founders still resound, full of wisdom and insight for today. Saints Elizabeth Ann Seton, Vincent de Paul, and Louise de Marillac invite us to deepen our relationships with Mary, the mother of Jesus, with Christ's gift of the Holy Spirit, with those around us, especially those in need, with all the members of the Body of Christ, and with God's glorious creation.

ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON
How sweet to entreat her [Mary] who bore Him in the bosom of peace to take our own case in hand — if she is not heard, who shall be?.... How can we honor the mysteries of Jesus without honoring Mary in them all.
The only word I have to say to every question is: I am a mother. Whatever providence awaits me consistent with that plea, I say Amen to it.
May you, like the Blessed Virgin and the other holy women who were with the apostles, be filled with the Holy Ghost. (inscription in a prayerbook sent to Elizabeth Seton by Bishop John Cheverus) |

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
How good it is to be God's child, since He loves those who have the happiness of possessing this quality in His sight even more tenderly than you love your child—although you have more affection for him than almost any mother I know!....Be fully confident that she to whom Our Lord has given so much love for other people's children will merit Our Lord's special affection for her own child. (words to St. Louise, who was concerned about her son Michel) |

ST. LOUISE DE MARILLAC
I entreat the goodness of God to dispose your souls to receive profitably the graces of the Holy Spirit so that, burning with the fire of His holy love, you may cherish the most holy will of God.
Our entire family should have great devotion to the Feast of Pentecost and total dependence on divine providence. |
