| Late Autumn - leaves turn, blaze briefly and fall; days shorten; crisp winds blow. Earth’s cycle invites us to savor the harvest with gratefulness for all God’s gifts. We celebrate saints, recognized and hidden. We notice our neighbors in need and reach out to them with compassion.
From centuries ago, the words of our founders still resound, full of wisdom and insight for today. As we move into this season of thanksgiving, Saints Elizabeth Ann Seton, Vincent de Paul, and Louise de Marillac, accompany us. They remind us to live with thankful hearts and eyes focused on what really matters.

ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON
Every day of life more and more increases my gratitude to God for having made me what I am.
Let the little whistling chilling wind blow above your head and blast nothing of your dear interior cheerfulness, your bright and hopeful look at Eternity. Eternity....What will we think of the trials and cares, pains and sorrows we once had upon earth? Oh, what a mere nothing! Let me then love and serve Him only who is to be loved and eternally served and praised in Heaven. |

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
The Son of God….came to bring fire to the earth by inflaming it with his love. What else can we want except that it burns and consumes everything?
Grant me the grace,…to begin as of this very moment to live in the bliss of the saints in heaven, which consists in being one, in willing and not-willing, with God’s [own] self. |

ST. LOUISE DE MARILLAC
It does not matter that we are not doing something. It is enough that God knows that we are all ready to work whenever He wishes.
I must learn to remain hidden in God,….content that He sees what I am striving to become. |
