Harvest time is here. The fields have generously given us their yield. Now it is time for them to rest and be replenished. Now it is time for us to gather and give thanks for God’s abundance.

From centuries ago, the words of holy people still resound, full of wisdom and insight for today. Our spirit guides – Saints Elizabeth Ann Seton, Vincent de Paul, and Louise de Marillac – call us to remember and be grateful for God’s abundant grace that meets us in every moment and experience.

ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON
Perseverance is a great grace. To go on advancing every day, we must be resolute and bear and suffer as our blessed forerunners did. Which of them gained heaven without a struggle?

…In life, in death, in time, in eternity,
in the hour of death, defend me,
call me to come to thee, receive me
with thy saints, in glory everlasting.

Our Blessed Lord gave us the parable of the wise and the foolish virgins to make us careful to choose our part with the wise ones and to keep in readiness for his coming.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
(Regarding the community) As it wasn’t then what it is now, there’s reason to believe that it’s still not what it will be when God has perfected it as He wants it.

What a benefit to be in a community where each single person participates in the good done by all its members!

ST. LOUISE DE MARILLAC
[We must] content ourselves with acquiescing to the present.

I assure you…that God made up for what was lacking in me. He does the same for everyone.
