Celebrating 200 Years

The story of the Sister of Charity in New York began in 1817. It is a story of thousands of lives serving God’s poor, a story of tough love and high standards, a story of caring and compassion, a story of inventiveness to infinity. It is a story of needs met, difficulties faced, challenges overcome, societies changed — with few resources but boundless energy, dedicated colleagues, and trust in God’s Providence.  It is a story impelled by the Charity of Christ — and that marvelous mission continues today. This year we celebrate the beginning of that mission. We hope you will join us for some of our events.

June 3 Performance of How the Nuns of New York Tamed the Gangs of New York,
Sheen Center, Manhattan

June 10 Picnic at Seton Village, Nanuet, 11 am – 3 pm

July 8 LEFSA Picnic, Central Park, 10 am – 2 pm

October 18 Stop Bus Tour of historic upstate SC missions, luncheon

December 9*  Closing Mass and renewal of vows/commitments, Saint Patrick’s Old Cathedral
