In a true spirit of collaboration, a Sisters of Charity of New York employee joined forces with one of our sponsored ministries and a Seton Associate from the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ, to help another organization in need. The Center for Food Action (CFA) in Englewood, NJ, is a food pantry that serves more than one hundred communities in Northern New Jersey. The pantry was in need of seedling donations for their garden, which provides healthy produce to the people they serve.

TomAnne Marie Gardiner, Director of Development for SCNY, read an article in The Record about the garden and how it had been recently vandalized. Disappointed but undaunted, the members of CFA were seeking seedling donations to plant again what had been destroyed.

One of the ministries of the Sisters of Charity of New York is Sisters Hill Farm, which is located in Dutchess County, NY. Anne Marie reached out to the farm’s director, Sister Mary Ann Garisto, SC, and arranged for a donation of approximately one hundred seedlings for CFA. Early last week, Tom Gardiner, Anne Marie’s husband, delivered the seedlings to the very grateful members of CFA.

Both Tom and Anne Marie are Associates of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in Convent. Thank you, Anne Marie, Tom, and Sisters Hill Farm for truly living the charism of charity.
