Scripture Reflections
These comments on Scripture and on events of our time
flow from the prayerful reflection and rich experience
of our
Sisters, Associates and colleagues. We are happy
to offer them to you, and pray that these words will open your heart
more fully to the living Word of God.

A time to dream of a world made new...

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed…
I never intend to adjust myself to segregation and discrimination,…to mob rule,…to physical  violence and to tragic militarism. I call upon you to be maladjusted to such things,…as maladjusted as Amos…, as maladjusted as Abraham Lincoln…, as maladjusted as Jesus of Nazareth….
God grant that we will be so maladjusted that we will be able to move from the bleak and desolate midnight of [human] inhumanity to [other humans] to the bright and glittering daybreak of freedom and justice.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I see a world where there is neither
Jew nor Greek,
where theologies and philosophies embrace,
where hard rock develops the power to hear.

I see a world where there is neither
slave nor free.
I see a free nation that respects freedom everywhere,
that reduces no other nation to second rate status for its own aggrandizement.

I see a church where there is neither
male nor female,
where men and women work lovingly together to bind up hearts that are broken,
to proclaim the good news, to anoint with the oil of gladness, the ill and the old.
And to say to spirits that hunger, “Corpus Christi.”
